WE ARE SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR THE ELECTORAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

PLEASE SUPPORT A CLEAN AND FAIR ELECTION IN 2024

At the ratification meeting of the SIFN CUSTOM ELECTION CODE, the SIFN community voted to have an ELECTORAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE that will help members monitor the election period. Their job is to ensure there are no violations of the Election Code such as the distribution of drugs and alcohol, money and other favours that can be construed as bribes for votes. We are seeking applicants to fill 5 positions on this volunteer committee. Your duties will be to review and investigate complaints that are brought forward by community members. The Committee will rule on the outcome that could lead to the disqualification of a candidate who violates the Code. If there are no violations the Committee will not be called to action. This would be the ideal outcome. In the meantime:

1. Interested members are asked to complete an application and submit it to the Director of Operations who, with the Chief Electoral Officer, will review the applications and select and appoint five committee members.
2. The application form is attached, or a paper copy can be picked up at the Finance Office Reception area.
3. Deadline for applications is July 15, 2021. The ELECTORAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE must be appointed no later than July 21.
